What Printing Technic Is Used For Printing Apparel?
We use Sublimination for apparel.
Sublimation is the process of transferring dye to a fabric using heat. The images and graphics are printed on special paper placed on the garment and heat is applied, allowing the ink to become part of the fabric. This will leave you with a more breathable, soft-hand feel to the fabric. The best part is that the numbers, letters, and graphics do not peel, wear off, or come out in the wash!
Pros:
- Great quality image.
- No fading, peeling or cracking.
- print will last as long as the appeal
Cons:
- White has to be the base color of every product.
- Only works with polyester material.
Vs DTG
DTG (Direct-To-Garment) is the printing method we use on apparel because of its ability to provide colorful, vibrant and high definition images that can resist up to 40-50 washes. In addition we use Kornit Water-based and NeoPigment inks that are Oeko-Tex™ certified.
***Everything is printed on demand***
This technique involves printing directly onto a garment with a printing machine. DTG printing is a relatively new technology, and it results in the best print quality
Pros:
- Photographic quality prints.
- Huge range of color options with maximum possible detail
- High-definition images that will last the life of the garment.
Cons:
- Limited to printing on a few locations on apparel with plus limited print size
- Prints onto dark and colored garments can appear less vibrant.
- We’re unable to match to exact Pantone (PMS) Color Codes; meaning your print may come out a slightly different color than you are expecting or that we can achieve with screen printing.
- Polyester garments or sports shirts cannot be printed using this process due to the low cotton content, we suggest least 80% cotton.
Note: Prints will naturally not flake or scratch unless they are scrubbed with the intention to do so. Please avoid aggressively scrubbing the design with sharp objects because it may flake like any other print.
Vs Screen Printing
one of the most popular and common techniques that garment manufacturers use to print designs on apparel. The method involves applying ink directly onto the fabric through a silk mesh screen, and printers use a different screen for each color in the design.
Pros
- Screen printing is the best method for very large volumes.
- Perfect Pantone color match
- Durable prints
Cons
- Limited to 5-6 flat color prints.
- Expensive for smaller order quantities.
Note: Prints will naturally not flake or scratch unless they are scrubbed with the intention to do so. Please avoid aggressive scrubbing the design with sharp objects because it may flake like any other print.
